Before I had a dog I used to go and sit in the woods near my house and look out for wildlife. After some time of sitting quietly and soaking in the bird sounds and wind in the trees there was a good chance I would then hear a little scurrying sound in the leaves near my feet and a vole or mouse would pare and carry on what it was doing before I disturbed it.
This painting is of a field mouse, I love their busy little whiskers and beefy eyes
